Learning a responsibility
A hobby can become an account of patience, practice and responsibility. Ask who taught the skill, what went wrong at first and what your relative eventually passed on to someone else.
Barrington Hills, Illinois
Preserve a parent’s life story with a family documentary filmed at home in Barrington Hills. Your Life, Filmed guides the conversation, works with selected family photographs and edits the interview into a film for family viewing.

At-home family documentary service
A family documentary can explain the everyday work behind the home, career and traditions younger relatives know today. Start with the person’s own priorities: childhood, raising children, friendships or a change of direction. We develop questions that give those experiences context, rather than asking someone to deliver a polished speech about their life.
Barrington Hills identifies equestrian traditions as part of its local heritage. If horses are part of your family’s experience, photographs of a first lesson, a familiar barn or a long-kept animal can prompt detailed memories. That is an optional chapter, not an assumption about everyone who lives here. Other families may prefer to focus entirely on work, relationships or life before the move.

A hobby can become an account of patience, practice and responsibility. Ask who taught the skill, what went wrong at first and what your relative eventually passed on to someone else.
Discuss how the home changed as children grew up or relatives joined the household. Ordinary photographs can reveal who did the work and how routines developed over time.
Ask about a cause or organization that mattered personally. Concentrate on the participant’s role and relationships, and confirm names and dates rather than treating recollections as an official organizational history.

Plan your family film
An indoor conversation is the starting point. Describe the room, arrival instructions and any access needs during planning. If you hope to include a barn, garden or another building, identify it early so we can discuss sound, safe access, permissions and the location allowance.
Barrington Hills extends beyond Lake County. Package travel includes Lake County filming; other addresses and additional travel are agreed separately. A large property or several possible backdrops does not require using them all. Choose the setting that supports the person’s story and allows an unhurried conversation.

Before we begin
Yes, when these are part of the participant’s life. Relevant photographs and guided questions can explain the people and responsibilities involved. Active riding, animal handling or separate property filming needs a specific discussion; it is not automatically included in an at-home interview.
We discuss the intended interview room and practical access beforehand. You can identify rooms or belongings that should stay outside the film. If other spaces are relevant, they can be considered during preparation rather than assuming unrestricted access on the filming day.
That depends on the actual address. Lake County travel is included in each package. For locations outside Lake County, tell us where filming would take place so travel and any additional location work can be agreed in writing.
Packages include private delivery and family viewing rights. Any proposed public use should be discussed separately. Tell us about confidentiality concerns and sensitive subjects during planning so the written agreement and interview outline reflect the intended use.
Lake County and nearby communities
We can discuss relatives in more than one community and confirm the locations included in your chosen film.
