Go beyond a list of job titles. Ask what a working day involved, how responsibilities were shared and which decisions changed family life. A business document or retirement photograph can introduce the people who influenced them and the lessons they want to pass on.
Select photographs your relative can explain in detail. Note names, relationships, approximate dates and locations, including any uncertainty. Before booking
Yes. At-home filming in Lake Forest is part of our Lake County service, and Lake County travel is included in each package. We discuss the room, access, sound and interview schedule in advance. Tell us about any breaks or access considerations the participant may need so these can be considered in the proposed plan.
They do not need acting experience or prepared answers. Before the filming day, we develop a story map with the family. During the interview, we ask questions and follow their answers. Share any topics they would prefer to avoid during preparation, along with the memories they are most comfortable discussing.
Yes. The packages include different allowances for digital photographs or short clips. If your pictures are loose prints, optional scanning is $350 for up to 75 prints, with additional loose prints at $4 each. Albums, slides, damaged originals and extensive restoration require a separate quote. We can discuss the materials you have before you choose a package.
The starting point is the participant’s account, family information and the materials agreed for the film. Do not assume a package includes comprehensive genealogy or independent archive research. If you want help investigating a particular date, person or Lake Forest address, explain that in your enquiry so we can discuss the scope and any permissions needed for outside materials.
