A personal documentary can begin at any stage of life.
You can commission a film about yourself or arrange one with someone close to you. The focus might be an entire life, a major transition, an immigration journey, years of military service or one chapter you want to explain in your own voice.
You do not need a public profile or a perfectly remembered timeline. We begin with the subjects you want to explore and the people who will watch. A short film can stay with one experience; a longer documentary has room to connect several chapters.

Perspective
Explain what you thought at the time and how you understand it now. Personal recollections can differ; we discuss uncertain details and avoid presenting assumptions as verified history.

Boundaries
Choose subjects you want to discuss and anything you prefer to keep private. There is no script to memorize. You can pause, take a break or move to another question.
Photographs and home movies
Give the viewer the context behind the memory.
A photograph can introduce someone mentioned in the interview. A letter or short home movie can help explain a place or period. We select materials that support the conversation within your package’s archive allowance.
Start with a small selection and note names, approximate dates and any permissions needed. Printed-photo scanning is optional; tape conversion and specialist restoration need a separate scope.
From interview to finished film
One filmmaker prepares, records and edits your story.
I guide the conversation in person and handle the filmmaking. The Short Documentary uses one primary camera angle. Signature and Extended add a second fixed angle of the same interview, operated by me.
Each package includes the finished documentary and lightly edited interview material, so you can watch the shaped story and revisit more of the conversation. You review a private draft before final delivery.

What is a life story film?
A life story film is a personal documentary built around a filmed conversation with the person whose story you want to preserve. Their voice and memories lead the film. Selected photographs, home movies and other interviews can add context, depending on the package. Editing brings those pieces into a connected story your family can return to.
Can you film my parent or grandparent at home if they are nervous on camera?
Yes. We usually film at home and prepare questions around the person’s own experiences. There is no script to memorize. We guide the conversation, allow pauses and encourage breaks. During preparation, tell us what would help your relative feel comfortable so we can discuss the filming plan together.
Can old photographs and home movies be included in a life story documentary?
Yes. Short Documentary includes up to 25 digital photographs. Signature Documentary includes up to 75 photographs or short clips, and Extended Documentary includes up to 150. Printed-photo scanning is an optional addition. If your material is on older media or needs restoration, tell us what you have so the scope and any additional cost can be confirmed before booking.
How long does a life story film take, and what will our family receive?
Typical completion is 6–8 weeks for Short Documentary, 10–12 weeks for Signature Documentary and 14–18 weeks for Extended Documentary. Scheduling, archive readiness and revision response time can affect delivery. Every package includes a finished film, lightly edited full interview material, a private gallery, an HD master and a sharing copy. You review a private draft before final delivery.
