Lehmann Mansion is part of Lake Villa’s local history. If a family celebration there appears in your own pictures, ask about the occasion and people rather than simply naming the building. Personal connections give a familiar location meaning within the documentary.
Ask what happened in the weeks before a wedding, a move or a first day at work. Who helped? What were they unsure about? These questions give the image context and allow the person to explain choices that the family may only know as dates.
Make a short relationship list before the interview, including nicknames and changed surnames. When a relative mentions an aunt or neighbor, ask how they knew one another. This helps the finished film remain understandable to children who never met those people.
Plan your family film
Start with pictures linked to the main chapters, keeping any writing on the back with the image. Avoid pulling fragile photographs from mounts simply to organize them. Tell us about unusual or delicate materials so their handling and any specialist work can be discussed before filming.
For the interview itself, suggest a quiet room at the Lake Villa home and explain any access needs. A familiar chair and a few meaningful objects can be useful, but elaborate decoration is unnecessary. We discuss the background, lighting and household activity as part of preparation.

Before we begin
The interview can help record the names and relationships your relative remembers. Mark uncertain details as questions rather than supplying guesses. The film is based on the agreed interviews and materials; it is not a substitute for independent genealogy research.
Yes. Signature Life Film includes up to two interview participants and up to two Lake County locations. We discuss whether separate conversations, shared recollections or a combination best suits their story and the available filming time.
You can propose your own celebration photographs for review. Permission to reproduce professional photographs or other third-party material may be needed. Mentioning a location in the story does not include access or permission for a new filming session there.
Story Portrait is $3,800 for a 15–20 minute film featuring one subject at one Lake County location. It includes preparation, filming, editing and private delivery. The packages page sets out the complete inclusions and separately quoted additions.
